My name is Paul Sillito and I'm a writer/director/editor based in Los Angeles with 4+ years of professional experience in media production. I've been a self-starter, independent filmmaker all my life and grew up across the western half of North America, including: Vancouver, Calgary, Seattle, Salt Lake City, and now Southern California. I've also been fortunate enough to briefly study film in England, and shoot short independent documentary projects in Japan. This past year I graduated from the Media Arts program at BYU with a minor in Philosophy, but I've been working professionally on sets, and as a freelance video editor since before I even started undergrad.
For the past 18 months, I've focused on - in addition to freelance opportunities and independent projects - being the Marketing Manager and Head of Production for a multi-million dollar per year business consulting and advocacy firm. In that time, I've overseen, and have personally planned, shot, edited, and published dozens of podcast episodes, documentary/brand films, testimonials, educational videos, and vertical socials-first shorts. I've enjoyed leading a lean, efficient production and marketing team to set and achieve brand goals while constantly one-upping myself in terms of quality, and efficacy. This work has utilized my knowledge of various social media platforms (Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn) and their analytic tracking capabilities. Despite the niche nature of this business, I've proven my creative and technical ability to garner tens of thousands of combined online impressions.
One thing that my resume and portfolio/reel may not capture, but that I'd like to highlight, is the fact that I am developing independent, micro (or zero) budget projects on my own time and for my own enjoyment. As I've mentioned elsewhere on this site, I'm in post production on a couple films, but I'm also ramping up pre-production on a fully self started short animated comedy pilot. I've also written a few projects that I'm excited to take to market in 2026. I'm passionate about communicating and creating in the visual medium, especially online. My professional experience is varied in some ways, but I see that only as an absolute strength. I'm light on my feet and easy to work and collaborate with.
